GuestTalk2019
Guest Talk (March 2019) at International Food Biosafety and Biotechnology Research and Extension Center (IFBBC).
Our Mission and Vision

Mission of the Center:

The mission of the Center is about Food Biosafety, which is closely linked to the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals; Goal 2-Zero Hunger; Goal 3-Good Health and Well-Being; Goal 12-Responsible Production and Consumption and Goal 17-Partnerships for the Goals.

IFBBC has developed a model in line with Turkey Biotechnology Strategic Action Plan. This plan prioritizes R&D studies to develop biotechnological techniques and applications in the agriculture and food sector, taking into account risks to the environment and human health. In addition, this plan aims to become a country that effectively applies the biosafety criteria for products manufactured using advanced technology within the framework of international developments.

Vision of the Centre:

The International Food Biosafety and Biotechnology Research and Extension Centre (IFBBC) is established for Research, Education and Technology Transfer to promote sustainable global development in the field of food biotechnology and biosafety.

The Centre creates a multidisciplinary network, enriches the research environment through seminars and meetings, and provides training to faculty, students and staff by organising workshops and short courses. Thanks to the studies and academic cooperation carried out in the centre, it will be possible to transfer the knowledge and resources of Hacettepe University and Michigan State University directly to individuals, society and institutions and to improve the resources by developing on-site, real-time research techniques. This centre will progress towards becoming a science and technology centre that will bring economic and scientific gains to our country by following, applying and presenting the technology to the world market with its infrastructure.

Within the scope of the project carried out in cooperation with the Centre and the Seed Gene Bank of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, for the first time in Turkey, local wheat diversity, the use of wheat that has an effect on human health in human nutrition and sustainable production in wheat are being investigated. The Centre aims to provide expertise, research and laboratory facilities in the field of food biosafety and biotechnology required by universities, public and private institutions. It also aims to increase the ability of our universities and other organisations to participate in and carry out international projects by supporting inter-institutional studies at interdisciplinary, national and international level and to support research that opens new horizons in science.

By sharing the same vision and ground with HÜNİTEK, IFBBC aims to become a science and technology centre that will respond to the research needs of the public and private sectors with a research infrastructure that can be used for multidisciplinary scientific research and will follow innovative technology.
